This 2 hour interactive online zoom workshop will guide the new supervisor through the Tailgate

2 hrOnline Zoom Meeting

Service Description

At Douglas Safety, our 2-Hour Zoom Tailgate Meeting is designed to give leaders, supervisors, and teams a powerful blend of practical safety training and personal development principles. This session goes beyond the standard toolbox talk—it equips participants with the skills, mindset, and clarity to both work safely and lead effectively. The session combines storytelling, group discussion, and interactive engagement to ensure that participants don’t just hear information—they connect with it, reflect on it, and know how to apply it immediately on the jobsite and in their personal lives. Part 1: The 10 Most Important Safety Points During the first half of the session, participants will explore core safety principles that save lives and shape culture: Hazard Recognition – spotting potential risks before they cause harm. Proper PPE Use – ensuring protection is always worn correctly and consistently. Safe Work Procedures – following and reinforcing established protocols. Communication – clear, concise, and constant dialogue on the jobsite. Risk Assessment & Planning – evaluating tasks before starting to reduce exposure. Speaking Up & Refusing Unsafe Work – empowering workers to stop the job when necessary. Fatigue & Stress Awareness – recognizing when conditions affect performance. Equipment Safety – proper use, inspection, and maintenance of tools and machinery. Emergency Preparedness – knowing what to do when things go wrong. Continuous Improvement (CANI) – learning from past incidents and near-misses to make tomorrow safer. These safety points are reinforced with real stories (e.g., the Broken Ice Story, Hardisty Gas Story) that highlight the consequences of unsafe actions and the courage of safe decisions. Part 2: The 10 Most Valuable Personal Development Points The second half of the session introduces personal development topics that build stronger leaders and better teammates: Goal Setting – defining clear safety and personal objectives. Taking Responsibility – ownership of choices, actions, and results. Decision-Making – learning to act quickly and wisely under pressure. Faith in Success – believing in the possibility of safe outcomes. Mastering Emotions – staying calm in high-stress situations. Transforming Limiting Beliefs – shifting from “I can’t” to “I will.” Building Confidence – strengthening leadership presence on site. Perseverance & Commitment – staying consistent, even when challenges appear.
